Glenn Scotia
THE LOCH LOMOND GROUP IS AN INDEPENDENT DISTILLERY THAT PRODUCES SOME OF THE FINEST AND RAREST SCOTTISH WHISKIES IN THE WORLD.
Loch Lomond's heritage is one of the oldest in the industry and dates back to 1772 when Littlemill, Scotland's oldest licensed distillery, was founded.
In 1814, the original location of the Loch Lomond Distillery was built near Tarbet, northwest of Loch Lomond. In 1832, the Glen Scotia Distillery was founded in Campbeltown, one of only three distilleries that existed in Campbeltown at the time.
Today, the Loch Lomond portfolio comprises a complete range of award-winning Loch Lomond single malts. The GlensCotia portfolio also includes a number of internationally recognized single malts and has been expanded to include 18 and 25-year-old single malts in classic Campbeltown style.
The growing presence of Loch Lomonds on global markets was further strengthened by the partnership with R&A and the Open Golf Championship. The sponsorship of the oldest golf tournament in the world, together with the sponsorship of the Woman's British Open, demonstrates an ongoing commitment to becoming a premium global spirits brand.
Glen Scotia 48YO
The 48-year-old Glen Scotia was distilled on 28 December 1974. It was first matured in a traditional combination of refill and first-fill Bourbon casks.
After forty-three years of gentle rest to develop its complex character, this exceptional single malt was transferred to a first-fill Oloroso hogshead for a further five years, where it acquired its delicately fragrant floral and orange-citrus notes that transport us from Campbeltown to the cathedral-like sherry bodegas of Spain.
To add a further dimension to this already refined and delicate whisky, the whisky was then matured for a further six months in an ex-Pedro Ximénez hogshead, adding further subtly sweet layers of syrup and orange marmalade to the subtly savoury and maritime character of the distillery.
The result is a single malt of exceptional character, a Spanish symphony of flavours interwoven with Campbeltown's signature coastal taste.
Nose: Sweet citrus notes of Seville orange, pineapple, salty coastal notes, green herbs, bay leaf, nutmeg and cinnamon.
Palate: Elegant mouthfeel with layers of demerara sugar and syrupy sweetness, with orange marmalade, red apple, sultanas and raisins, some dried peel and spicy cinnamon.
Finish: Long finish with melted brown sugar and stone fruit, apricot and peach.
Glen Scotia 15 YO
Glen Scotia 15 Year Old is an exceptional single malt whisky. Gently matured in the finest American oak casks, hand-picked by Master Blender Michael Henry, you will discover subtle notes of sea spray, caramel and spicy aromatic fruits.
Nose: citrus peel, ginger and biscuits. Sweet and with great depth. Flavours of apricot develop and then drift towards fruit salad. After a while, the wood comes to the fore and a drop of water helps to bring out the cooked fruit.
Palate : A complex palate, which after the first impression suggests fruitier flavours, is greeted by a surprisingly dry element. The palate fills out as the first impression of the nose fades. The addition of water brings out the caramelised elements you would expect from a 15 year old whisky.
Finish: Strong and slightly dry.
Glen Scotia 18 YO
The 18-year-old Glen Scotia first matured in refill bourbon casks and American oak refill casks before our Malt Master selected the best casks and blended them together for a twelve-month finish in first fill Oloroso casks.
Nose: Crisp saltiness, fragrant floral notes and thick, sweet toffee.
Palate: Rich, deep fruit flavours of vanilla, apricot and pineapple, plump sultanas.
Finish: Long and dry with soft, warming spice.
Glen Scotia 10 YO
Glen Scotia 10 year old is an unpeated Campbeltown malt, fully matured in first-fill bourbon casks.
All the classic Campbeltown characteristics can be found in this wonderful whisky: gentle sea breeze, green fruits with a hint of citrus, creamy vanilla and a gentle spiciness.
Nose: Sea breeze and sliced apple with lemon zest and toasted oak.
Palate: Melted brown sugar, orange marmalade and tangy pineapple with creamy oak and vanilla.
Finish: Long with mild ground ginger and cinnamon spiciness.
